On Thursday, August 29, Ms. Aybar, our new Principal, hosted a Meet and Mingle event to kick off the new school year with the Cathedral community. Students, families, faculty, and staff enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones, enjoying an ice cream sundae bar, and competing in a CHS Sticker Competition.
A sign of an experienced leader is the ability to draw others’ gifts to the surface. Ms. Aybar has easily demonstrated this quality and more in her first few weeks at Cathedral. She is dedicated to helping our students uncover their gifts and share them with others, and determined to begin and end all things in prayer. Her clear faith in God demonstrates her commitment to Cathedral’s mission!
Ms. Aybar hails from the Bronx, she attended Cardinal Spellman High School, and earned her Masters degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Notre Dame. Before joining Cathedral as our academic leader, Ms. Aybar served at St. Athanasius School for 12 years, where she held various roles: teacher, Academic Dean, and–for the last six years–Principal. Ms. Aybar is the proud mother of three boys, and is excited to be in a female-dominant school environment because her home life is not that way!
Ms. Aybar shares, “As I step into the role of principal at Cathedral High School, I am filled with both excitement and gratitude. It is an honor to join a school with such a rich history and vibrant community! Together, we will have an amazing school year, marked by spiritual growth, academic excellence, and a deep commitment to the values that we know will help our students strive toward college and Heaven.”
We look forward to a fruitful school year under Ms. Aybar’s academic leadership!
