Emily Estevez ’96 and Cherese Joseph ’03 return to Cathedral as part of the Business, Finance, and Law Academy’s Distinguished Speakers Series.
Recently, Cathedral High School was thrilled to welcome two distinguished alumnae to our new home on 97th Street.
Emily Estevez '96 and Cherese Joseph '03 were joined by Michelle Petropoulous, Amanda Boggs, and Lili Pineda. The five are successful professionals at SMBC, the 12th largest bank in the world with global headquarters in Tokyo and North American headquarters in Manhattan.
The panel discussion was the first in this year’s CHS Distinguished Speakers Series. The group engaged with over 50 upperclassmen in Cathedral’s Business, Finance, and Law Academy in a wide-ranging program that ran the gamut from self-advocacy to macroeconomics.
Ms. Joseph '03 emphasized the importance of representation and female leadership and assured the students that the “different cultures represented in one building at Cathedral is so important, because that’s what you see when you go out into the world.”
Ms. Estevez '96 spoke about the importance of mentorship in her own life and profession and shared that “Cathedral gave me the foundation to excel at NYU Stern School of Business and throughout my career.” Ms. Estevez shared her personal story of growing up in the Lower East Side and working two jobs during her time at Cathedral. She encouraged students to leverage every opportunity they receive at Cathedral, because “what you learn within these walls will take you far.”
Many thanks to Ms. Estevez, Ms. Joseph, and all their SMBC colleagues for inspiring and motivating our Cathedralites!
