This week, four students in the Business, Finance, and Law Academy and Mr. Doyle’s Finance and Marketing class participated in a program hosted by Junior Achievement titled Finance Park. This capstone program helps students to evaluate the risks and benefits of saving and investing, explain the advantages and disadvantages of using credit and debit cards, and create a successful budget using hypothetical life situations.
Cathedralites had fun engaging in competitive activities against other teams from other schools. They were assigned roles and used their personas to make informed decisions about their personal finances, considering not only their own needs but also those of their family members. The programming reinforced and brought to life what they are learning in the classroom, helping them to perceive the challenges and importance of keeping a personal and family budget more clearly.
The Junior Achievement officials made a point of telling Mr. Doyle how impressive the Cathedral students were, both in their knowledge and also their decorum! Cathedral has a longstanding relationship with Junior Achievement, and we are so grateful to the volunteer representatives from Fitch Ratings and JP Morgan Chase for their time and professionalism. We especially thank Junior Achievement Programs Manager Ariah Saeed for coordinating this excellent experience for our business students!
